{"id":1657,"date":"2025-09-25T11:22:22","date_gmt":"2025-09-25T09:22:22","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/shyne.es\/?post_type=proyecto&#038;p=1657"},"modified":"2025-10-06T16:41:31","modified_gmt":"2025-10-06T14:41:31","slug":"enagas-aass-north-1","status":"publish","type":"proyecto","link":"https:\/\/shyne.es\/en\/proyecto\/enagas-aass-north-1\/","title":{"rendered":"Enag\u00e1s: AASS North 1"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"wp-block-columns is-layout-flex wp-container-core-columns-is-layout-7387b849 wp-block-columns-is-layout-flex\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-column is-layout-flow wp-block-column-is-layout-flow\">\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Mission<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Develop a secure, flexible, and scalable solution for storing renewable hydrogen that guarantees the stability of the energy supply, contributing to system stability and mitigating the intermittency of renewable electricity.\u00a0<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-column is-layout-flow wp-block-column-is-layout-flow\">\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Vision<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Strengthen Spain&#039;s position to become a producer and exporter of renewable hydrogen through the development of a robust and flexible hydrogen network, which will help achieve both national and European decarbonization goals, boosting competitiveness.\u00a0<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The North-1 project involves the development of underground hydrogen storage in saline cavities in the town of Polanco, Cantabria.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This project is the result of a collaboration between Enag\u00e1s and Solvay. The project will leverage Solvay&#039;s expertise in developing salt cavities\u2014originally created for sodium carbonate production operations\u2014to be converted into hydrogen storage under the coordination of Enag\u00e1s, which contributes its experience in energy transport and hydrogen infrastructure to integrate this capacity into the Spanish energy system. Hydrogen from the grid will be injected into the salt cavities during peak renewable generation periods and extracted when hydrogen demand exceeds generation.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The project is included in the European Union&#039;s first list of Projects of Common Interest (PCI).
