Leading project development across the entire industrial value chain of renewable hydrogen

SHYNE is an association made up of companies and organizations interested in promoting large-scale green hydrogen projects in Spain. The aim is to boost their implementation and thereby contribute to the transformation of a decarbonized national economy with more sustainable and competitive industry and mobility.

A great challenge shared by business and social leaders

SHYNE was founded by seven leading companies in their sectors: Alsa, Bosch, Enagás, Enagás Renovable, Repsol, Navantia Seanergies, and Talgo, and is now made up of more than 30 organizations.

These include real renewable hydrogen projects that cover the entire value chain: generation, storage, transportation, and consumption. These projects complement, integrate, and collaborate with the business and industrial ecosystem and will contribute to the creation of large economic platforms and clusters.

Our goal is for Spain to become an industrial hub for renewable hydrogen, a benchmark in Europe, acting as a driving force at national level to bring projects based on this energy vector to life.

SHYNE has the capacity to be a catalyst for projects originating in the business and industrial sector by promoting collaboration between its members and the Public Administration.

SHYNE's goal is to make Spain a true reference hub for the rest of Europe in this energy vector, renewable hydrogen.

Renewable hydrogen: a country project

The European Union's firm determination to deploy the infrastructure to transport the renewable hydrogen in Spain and Europe,the generation of renewable electricity in Spain at a lower energy cost than other European markets, and the need for greater energy independence, place our country in a privileged position in the sector. Renewable hydrogen is one of the main factors that can contribute to the strategic autonomy of Spain and Europe in energy matters, and advance the sustainability goals set at the national and European levels.

Spain is playing a key role in promoting renewable hydrogen: eight of the 15 projects selected in the second auction are located in Spain. They have a combined capacity of 891 MW and will receive €292.2 million in aid, the largest amount among the beneficiary countries.

Private initiatives are very relevant for the development of renewable hydrogen, its deployment and consolidation.

They provide the necessary impetus and solidity to this highly technologically complex sector, while a robust regulatory framework is developed, to which they contribute.

What do we need to face this challenge?

Identify and promote feasible projects and provide them with sufficient financial support, allowing our country's industry to gain technological robustness and scale projects that will allow us to gain experience and optimize processes.

Provide the necessary public and private support for industrial transformation and the decarbonization of transport, especially heavy and maritime transport.

SHYNE joins the credited voices that underscore the need to gain industrial clout in Europe and Spain, making a decarbonization strategy compatible with a robust and competitive industrialization plan based on renewable hydrogen.
