Mission
The mission of this initiative is to establish an electrolyzer assembly plant with advanced facilities designed to integrate electrolyzer assembly processes, ensuring scalability and quality. This infrastructure will be made available to meet the needs of technology companies, becoming an industrial benchmark in the hydrogen value chain and contributing to sustainable development and the decarbonization of key sectors.
The electrolyzer assembly plant is a project that was created with the purpose of strengthening the green hydrogen value chain, with the capacity to offer advanced industrial solutions for its manufacture.
Vision
This new capacity from Navantia Seanergies will contribute to increasing Spain's industrial capacity for renewable hydrogen generation, following a competitive industrial model based on a comprehensive approach to efficiency, innovation, and scalability, and boosting the positioning the country as a European leader in green hydrogen.
Navantia Seanergies will incorporate facilities at the Ferrol Turbine Factory to deploy the assembly of electrolyzers.
The Turbine Factory boasts over 100 years of experience and a highly qualified workforce specializing in the manufacture of equipment for marine propulsion and power generation, including reduction gears, shaft lines, rudders, steam turbines, and wind turbines, among others. This expertise is developed through collaborative agreements with leading global technology providers and by leveraging the supply chain to meet the most demanding quality standards. The factory occupies over 40,000 m² of space, offers ample cargo handling capacity, and provides direct access to the sea from its own docks for unloading materials and shipping assembled equipment to customer locations.
With more than 40,000 m² of surface area, capacity for the movement of heavy loads and Direct access to the sea From the shipyard docks, the new factory is designed to:
- Optimize operational efficiency, reducing production times and ensuring the traceability of each component.
- Promote collaboration between production and supply chain in a flexible and technologically advanced environment.
- Ensure scalability, adapting to projects of different sizes, both in land and offshore applications.
- Promote national industrial leadership, positioning the factory as a European benchmark in the industrialization of the hydrogen value chain.
This initiative reinforces Navantia Seanergies' commitment to the energy transition and the development of a sustainable and competitive industry.
Progress on the implementation of the electrolyzer plant is moving forward steadily. Navantia Seanergies has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Repsol and is in advanced discussions with technology specialists in alkaline electrolysis and PEM to seek relevant collaborations. The first orders will solidify the value of this key infrastructure for the development of green hydrogen in Spain.
